About my (3/7)eighth week in NCKU

Another week, another blog post—but honestly, since NCKU life didn’t really kick off until Wednesday thanks to the long weekend, I wasn’t sure if I could write 600 words this time 😓

Let’s rewind a little to Tuesday. Because of the extended holiday, I didn’t head back to school until around 9:30 PM. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one with that brilliant idea—when I got to Tainan Station, the street outside was packed. I’d never seen that many people walking around there at the same time…😰

Now onto Wednesday, which I officially dubbed 🍜RAMEN DAY🍜. I had plans with Trinity, Jovanna, and Nia to visit a ramen place near school—📍豚人拉麵. I’d promised my new friend Chris (who works there) that I’d drop by and say hi, so I was extra hyped. Just knowing I’d get to eat ramen later made the whole day feel exciting—even the midterm for Introduction to Neuroscience in the afternoon didn’t scare me anymore. (BTW, the class sounds scary, but the exam was super chill—would recommend🌟👍🏻)

I finished the exam in about 20 minutes, headed back to the dorm for a nap, and then... ramen time! The place was really popular, so we ended up waiting around 30 minutes. But it was totally worth it—🍜so good! After stuffing ourselves, Trinity and I decided to take a walk around the track to digest a bit. People were still playing soccer there at night, which always makes me want to join in. I LOVE SOCCER SO MUCH  seeing others play really gets me in my feels ⚽️😭.

That walk ended with us getting thirsty, so naturally…7-Eleven ice cream break😐.

Thursday was also a blast—even though technically it’s the 8th week and I should be preparing for midterms… but y’know. Priorities. The day’s agenda: 📍文章牛肉湯 📍一心保齡球館. It was my very first time bowling in Tainan, and the last time I played was probably in 3rd grade, so I was confidently terrible at it. We even did a round using only our left hands, and guess what? I somehow got my FIRST STRIKE of the night with my left hand. Am I secretly a lefty??? Major identity crisis moment.

We stayed at the bowling alley until around midnight and even tried darts🎯 afterward. Though we accidentally chose the wrong game mode and spent like half the time just figuring out how to play. Still, I wasn’t too bad at that maybe because I had some dart “training” at a hostel in Tainan last summer (for one whole day lol).

We wrapped up the night with a late ride through Tainan around 12:30 AM. The weather was perfect, breezy but not too cold. Only downside? The cars on the road were speeding like they were in a Fast & Furious movie😐😐.

Friday was pretty uneventful, except I had a super tasty matcha donut in the morning. So, to write the 600-word goal, here’s something completely unrelated: I recently decided to start making a Tainan Pudding Map🍮🗺️. I LOVE pudding, and the ones in Tainan are insanely good. I can’t remember every place I’ve tried, so for now I’ll just list my top three:

🥇📍東京電波 (10/10)

🥈📍咚窩蕊 (9.7/10)

🥉…Can’t decide yet. We’ll leave that spot open for now.

Hopefully, I’ll get to try more and find a truly mind-blowing third-place contender soon. Feel free to join me on this pudding journey!

BTW, Saturday’s plan is brunch (yay). I love brunch—it just feels so chill and cozy. Tomorrow’s spot is 📍是吉咖啡. I’ll let you know my rating in next week’s post! Also planning to hit up an ice dessert place next week with Trinity—📍冰角. Totally feels like summer is creeping in already🔥🥵🧊

Can’t wait my ninth week in Tainan, but I have a presentation next week😭😐

  1. I love bowling so much. One time, my friends and I tried to see who could bowl with the weirdest and stupidest pose while still knocking down as many pins as possible. (We all ended up getting gutterballs, so embarrassing.)💀💀 Anyway, I was wondering why did you rate 咚窩蕊 a 9.7 instead of, like, a 9.5 or something? Is there some kind of rating standard on your list?
Looking forward to your next blog as always!🤯🤯

  2. That seems very interesting on Wednesday and Thursday, and I know that Chris has worked in ramen shop for a long time( maybe half year) .when I eat there, he always give me much noodles which makes me enjoy a great time in the restaurant. I also cannot image that you play bowling, and it’s very cool cuz I don’t understand bowling and also seldom play it.

  3. I guess I just found out someone copying the article a few weeks ago? Yeah and I definitely need to complete your pudding map with you, and you gotta take me to東京電波🙏 I’m really wondering what pudding can taste better than咚窩蕊. By the way, really looking forward to your sharing about this week~~~(you know why)
